Lots
of change in the Lipke household these days.
Today
marks Emma's first official day in the toddler room at daycare. This day is a
little bittersweet for me, I am excited for her to experience and learn new
things, but sad that my little baby girl is growing up so fast. She has been
transitioning for the past couple weeks and absolutely loves being with the
bigger kids and especially loves all the cool toys. With her move to the
toddler room she is now down to one nap a day and now will nap on a little cot
instead of a crib! She also will sit in a chair for meals, will be practicing
using her utensils more and more, and will enjoy her whole milk using a sippy
cup. We have been working at home on many of these things, she has already
given up bottles, formula, and the 2nd nap. I have no idea how she will do when
it comes to sleeping on the cot, but I'm sure she will be pretty tuckered out
and will be fine as long as she has a blanket and her thumb. She also gets to
go outside everyday (weather permitting), so she will love playing in the
toddler playground and may even get to see her big brother more when he is also
outside in the Pre-K playground.
Today
also marks Mike's first day on his new job at Goodrich Sensors & Integrated Systems.
Back in November of 2010 Lockheed Martin announced they will be closing the
Eagan, MN location with some jobs being eliminated and some jobs moving to other
Lockheed locations. Mike's job was the latter and his position was scheduled to
transition to Washington DC in the Fall of 2012. We did not want to relocate so
Mike ended up seeking a new job within the Twin Cities and recently accepted an
offer within the Government Systems division of Goodrich. Goodrich is also in
the defense industry but also supplier of systems and services to
the commercial aerospace market. Mike will be a Business Development
Manager for Navy programs, which he is excited about because he will get to
continue working with and supporting the US Navy.
Good luck Emma and Mike!
We love you and know you will do great.
XOXO - Nancy AKA Mommy and Evan
